It is 2,940 meters long, has a vertical drop of 740 meters, a maximal gradient of 34.7 percent and was named “the Streif of the women’s races” by ‘Kaiser’ Franz Klammer. The new ‘Franz Klammer’ downhill stretch in Bad Kleinkirchheim will host two downhill events and a Super-G on the weekend. I’m actually quite happy with my first encounters, the first two training runs, on this selective stretch. Up until the first downhill on Friday, the stretch will certainly become even faster and thus more challenging. The stretch not only blends into the terrain beautifully, but it also offers everything we skiers desire. It begins with the steep Klammer-Stich, and then come lots of transitions, several jumps and real downhill curves for which technique plays a big role.
After a tough start to the season in North America and Europe, I’m at least confident that I can once again deliver the form I had last year in Bad Kleinkirchheim.
Ideal training conditions in Obdach
For the speed races in Bad Kleinkirchheim, St. Moritz and Cortina, I did a last bit of fine tuning during Super-G training at home in Obdach. Once again, I would really like to thank the Obdacher Skilift personnel from the bottom of my heart. It just takes one phone call, and then I can train very well on a perfectly prepared slope.
I hope you’re wishing me lots of luck!
Naturally, I’m hoping for your active support in Bad Kleinkirchheim. I’ll definitely give it my all.
