I would like to wish all of you a healthy and successful year 2005. I also want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your tremendous support over the past years. It’s really great to know that so many people are rooting for you and keeping their fingers crossed. Even if the old year didn’t quite finish as I'd hoped on the Semmering, after my early exit in the giant-slalom competition on the Zauberberg.
But, to be honest, when I think of the terrible catastrophe in south-east Asia, and see the pain and suffering the victims endure, I'm certain that this race is one that doesn't need any more scrutiny from me. I wish everybody who is in any way affected by the flooding all the best.
Training in Obdach
Before heading off to Santa Caterina on Monday, I took advantage of the excellent conditions in my home town of Obdach and, together with Karin Blaser and Eveline Rohregger, engaged in two days of super-G training under the watchful eye of ÖSV coach Walter Hlebayna.
World Championship dress rehearsal in Santa Caterina
I’m very glad of course, after the postponement of both of the downhill events in Val d’Isere, that the world championship location Santa Caterina has stepped in, and that we can compete in two downhill contests there. Both of these races are ideal in view of the upcoming world championships.
I wish everyone a lovely time over what’s left of your Christmas holidays and maybe I’ll see you at one of the next races.
